Our backyard has been quiet, and I'm still eagerly waiting the appearance of the first hummingbird. In past years, hummingbirds started appearing in late April. With the unseasonable warm spring weather we've been having, I was hoping they would arrive earlier, but so far, no luck.
This week, we are back to typical cool temperatures. The cool weather reminded me of some pictures I took last fall during a morning walk in a local park. There are no birds in this picture (that I can see!), but its still one of my favorites, suggesting the path of life into the unknown.
Luckily, during my walk, I did catch a few pictures of a female downy woodpecker busily pecking at a tree stump.
